Volunteer Appreciation Event
Mario Sergio, MPP for York West held a 2nd Annual Volunteer Appreciation Event on October 14 at Julius Banquet Centre to recognize those organizations who continue to contribute to our diverse community. This year, Premier Kathleen Wynne joined MPP Sergio to thank the volunteers and presented the awards to 140 honourees, represented by more than 30 groups, including Elspeth Heyworth Centre for Women, 31 Division - Toronto Police Service, Louise Russo W.A.V.E. (Working Against Violence Everyday), Shoreham Adgely Building, Lumacare and Delta Family Resource Centre. The volunteers were chosen by the different organizations themselves, making this volunteer event a politically non-partisan occasion. York West MP Judy Sgro and Laura Albanese, MPP for York South- Weston were also in attendance. The event was a great success drawing in over 400 people from across York West.
